The Road Commission of Kalamazoo County has a roadway improvement project on 9th Street from I-94 north to Meridian Avenue scheduled to start June 13, 2016. The project includes traffic signal upgrades tot he 9th Street intersections with Beatrice Drive, Stadium Drive, intersection reconfiguration at the intersection with Stadium Drive, and asphalt milling and resurface of 9th Street from I-94 north.
An informal informational meeting will be held on Wednesday June 1, 2016 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the Oshtemo Community Center located at 6407 Parkview Avenue to present some of the project details. At this meeting construction plans will be available to view and the RCKC will be available to answer questions regarding access to your business or home during construction.
Traffic will be maintained through the corridor for the duration of this project. While the road will remain open, the number of lanes will be restricted and delays should be expected. The contractor will begin work on the reconfiguration of the Stadium Drive intersection that will place a curve through the intersection that will provide better east-west traffic flow through the intersection. This work is anticipated to last until the end of August. Starting in September, they will then start working on the asphalt milling and repaving of 9th Street from I-94 north. The paving portion of the project is anticipated to last through late September. All of the contractor’s efforts are currently scheduled to be completed by the end of September 2016.
