PUBLIC NOTICE

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) has received a water withdrawal permit application by the Charter Township of Texas for a proposed withdrawal of up to 4.32 million gallons per day from Crooked Lake. The proposed withdrawal is for flooding relief during the current high-water episode. The proposed withdrawal is intended to lower the level of Crooked Lake, continuing as necessary until the level is 1 foot below the normal lake elevation. The proposed withdrawal location is approximately 42.2111° latitude and -85.6924° longitude, Township 03S, Range 12W, Section 15, Kalamazoo County.

The MDEQ provides this public notice and a public comment period of not less than 45 days before making a determination on the application.
