BOIL WATER ADVISORY – REVISED

Water Infrastructure Repair

South 10th Street, Texas Township

January 7, 2021, Kalamazoo MI – The City of Kalamazoo is in the process of repairing a water valve on South 10th Street that resulted in a temporary loss of pressure. Consequently, a precautionary boil water advisory is being issued in cooperation with the Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department for all water intended for drinking or ingestion or any consumptive uses within the affected area (see map below), including:

Blue Jay Drive – From South 10th Street (western boundary) to Bob White Avenue (eastern boundary), both sides of street.  Does NOT include the northeast and southeast corners of Blue Jay Drive and South 10th Street.

Bob White Drive – From Morning Dove Lane (western boundary) to Warbler Drive (eastern boundary), both sides of the street.  Does NOT include the northwest and southwest corners of Bob White Drive and Warbler Drive.

Swallow Avenue – From South 10th Street (western boundary) approximately 1400 feet east (eastern boundary), both sides of street.

Canary Drive – From Blue Jay Drive (northern boundary) to Swallow Avenue (southern boundary), both sides of street.  Includes only the City of Kalamazoo Water customers.

Morning Dove Lane – From Blue Jay Drive (northern boundary) to Swallow Avenue (southern boundary), both sides of street.

Finch Drive – From Bob White Avenue (northern boundary) to Swallow Avenue (southern boundary), both sides of the street.  Does NOT include the northwest and northeast corners of Finch Avenue and Swallow Avenue.

The City of Kalamazoo has also scheduled a shutdown for the completion of this repair on South 10th Street for Friday, January 8, 2021 starting at approximately 8:00 a.m.

This advisory is precautionary only; there have not been any confirmed tests showing bacteria present in the water main at the location of the infrastructure repair.  Initial sampling results will be available within 24 hours of its collection and the final set within 48 hours. It is expected that the advisory will be lifted within 72 hours (January 11).

Municipal water customers in the affected area may use bottled water for consumptive purposes or boil their tap water for 2 minutes prior to use for drinking or other ingestion.  No special precautionary measures are necessary for water used for personal hygiene.
