In response, Texas Township formed a steering committee of residents, Board Members, and Parks and Trails Committee members, who worked with Viridis Design Group to create conceptual plans for a redesigned Texas Drive Park, and the construction of a brand new park on township-acquired property on 6th Street.
On February 8, 2016, the Township Board approved the below conceptual designs. These designs, which took over two years to complete, were presented to residents, and committees such as the Parks and Trails Committee and Planning Commission, for feedback and suggestions prior to Township Board approval. In fact, the entire process of initial conception, revision, feedback, further revision, and approval took over two years.
We are very excited about these conceptual designs and the positive impact they would have on our growing and thriving community.
The Township Board is now in the process of securing grant funding for these parks, which would be constructed in a phased approach, to ease the burden of funding from residents and businesses in Texas Township.
We are currently in the process of applying for a 2017 Land and Water Grant. If awarded, this grant would be used to construct Phase I of the 6th Street Project. Please join us on Monday, March 27th at 6pm, for a Public Hearing where residents will have the opportunity to provide input and show support for this project.
