Assistant Market Manager

The Texas Township Farmers’ Market is seeking an Assistant Market Manager to serve during the 2021 market season. An overview of the position, as well as a full job description, are below.

Role:  To assist the farmers’ market manager and provide oversight and leadership in a manner consistent with the mission and vision of the Market:

  • Create a sense of community for Texas Township and surrounding areas
  • Promote local businesses and create economic development around foods that are grown, raised, and processed locally
  • Raise awareness about the rich and diverse agricultural areas in southwest Michigan

Commitment:  Estimated 200 hours for the season, working 22 Saturday markets (6:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. from mid-May through mid-October) and 10 Tuesday markets (2:30 – 7:30 p.m. from June through August)

Terms: Contract position, $13-$15 per hour, not to exceed $3,500 per season

Assistant Farmers Market Manager Job Description 2021

Food Access Intern

The Texas Township Farmers’ Market is seeking a Food Access Intern to serve during the 2021 market season. An overview of the position, as well as a full job description, are below.

The Farmers’ Market intern will assist the Market Manager in market operations and help increase awareness and utilization of food assistance benefits (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) via the Michigan Bridge Card, Double Up Food Bucks, WIC Project FRESH and Market FRESH) at the farmers’ market. This may include, but is not limited to: staffing the Market Information Table and facilitating credit/debit and food assistance benefits usage and redemption, engaging in vendor and shopper communications and outreach, and networking with outside community groups and partners to increase food access for low-income families, and promotions.

This position will start June 1 and end mid-September, averaging 8-10 hours per week. Compensation will include a $500 stipend to support educational credits and travel.
