Planner/Zoning Administrator

The Charter Township of Texas is seeking to hire a full-time experienced Planner and Zoning Administrator and Economic Development Coordinator to provide a wide range of ongoing planning, zoning and economic development services.  This is a high-level professional position within the Department of Planning and Zoning.   

Texas Township is located in the southwest portion of Kalamazoo County with Oshtemo Township to the north; City of Portage to the east; Prairie Ronde Township to the south; and Antwerp Township, in VanBuren County to the west.  Texas Township is uniquely located with easy access to I-94 and US-131.  There are over 15,000 residents residing within the township with its’ primary land uses residential and agricultural, however there is an increasing potential for new commercial and development.

Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or related field required, Master’s degree preferred. Five years of experience, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and sound judgment are required. Must have or willing to complete the Michigan Zoning Administrator Certificate Program within twelve months from hire date.

Position is full-time and the compensation commensurate with qualifications.  Historically the pay range for this position has been between $57,000- $62,000 per year plus a comprehensive benefit package.
