Fire & Police Special Assessment District

Fire and Police SAD Update - August 27, 2025

Based on feedback from the community, the Township Board has decided to discontinue the process of establishing a Special Assessment District (SAD) for fire and police services. Instead, the Board is working closely with staff to explore long-term funding solutions that will ensure sustainable and reliable support for our public safety services. As such, there will not be a second public hearing on September 8.

The Board is fully committed to maintaining strong, dependable funding for these essential fire and police services. To give residents a direct voice in this important decision, the Board plans to place a funding proposal on the ballot in August 2026, ensuring that the community guides the future of public safety in Texas Township.

In the meantime, the Board is evaluating temporary measures to provide partial funding, acknowledging that these measures will not fully cover the proposed funding levels. Full, long-term support for fire and police services will depend on the outcome of the 2026 ballot proposal.

We are deeply grateful for the engagement, thoughtful input, and commitment shown by residents throughout this process. Your feedback has been instrumental in shaping the Board’s direction, and as we move forward, the Board remains dedicated to listening, learning, and supporting the community’s voice every step of the way.
