On September 21st 2009 Texas Township Fire Fighters performed live fire training at the Kalamazoo County Burn Tower. During this event fire fighters trained on fire suppression and ventilation while enduring heat in excess of 700 degrees. Fires were set in a second story with a long corridor leading to the burn room using wooden pallets and wet straw to produce smoke similar to what they would encounter in an actual structure fire. Trainings of this type are extremely important and give newer fire fighters a chance to operate hose lines in limited visibility and high heat atmospheres in a controlled setting to provide them with valuable experience. During the drill Oshtemo Township Fire Department covered TTFD's area for approximately 4 hours as all TTFD resources were committed to the training ground.
