Wendy Mazer has served as a Texas Township Trustee since 2012 and is a 28-year resident of Texas Township, who has lived in the Rudgate neighborhood since 1990 after moving from Colony Woods. She has been married to Kevin Mazer, Certified Financial Advisor for 33 years and together they have six children who all graduated from Portage Public Schools.
Wendy is a lifetime resident of the area, graduating from Portage Central and then earning her Bachelors Degree in Music from Western Michigan University and Masters Degree from the University of Michigan. She has been a freelance musician and studio teacher for 40 years.
In January 2015, Wendy completed Michigan Townships Association’s (MTA) intensive Township Governance Academy (TGA). Before being elected to serve on the Texas Board, Wendy served as Trustee on the Portage Public Schools’ Board of Education where she earned the Michigan Association of School Board’s (MASB) Certified Board Members Award. Wendy is a member of the Kalamazoo County Republican Party’s Executive Committee.

Tim Brown is a lifelong area resident and lives on Breton Woods Court with his wife Julie. Tim and Julie raised three sons: Josh, a University of Michigan graduate and quantitative programmer for State Street Financial in Boston, Keegan, a Presidential Scholarship recipient and marketing honors student at Ferris State University, and Evan, a Senior at Portage Northern High School.
Tim and Julie own and operate Easy On Hold, a global audio marketing company which started in 1997. Prior to starting the business, Tim was a radio host and Julie was Marketing Director for the Irving S. Gilmore Keyboard Festival.
Tim is a graduate of Portage Central High School and proud alumnus of Western Michigan University where he majored in communications with minors in business and music, earning a bachelor’s degree in 1983. Tim is a long-time community volunteer, serving on the Portage Public Schools Curriculum Council, and in schools, churches and various non-profits.
Don Boven was elected to the Township Board in November 2016. He is a long-time member of the community and has lived in Texas Township since 1965. Don retired from the Upjohn/Pharmacia Company after 31 years of service and has two grown children. Don has served the township in many capacities including: Captain of the Texas Township Fire Department (20 years), on the Township Zoning Board of Appeals (2 years), and as a Township Trustee (26 years). He also has served on the Township’s Election Commission, Public Safety Committee, and Building Board of Appeals.
Nick Loeks was elected to the Township Board in November 2016. Nick has been a resident of Texas Township for more than 25 years and currently lives on West OP Avenue. He and his wife Betsy have two children, Lindsey, a student at Mattawan Consolidated Schools, and Andrew, a preschooler.
Nick is a graduate of Portage Central High School and earned his bachelor of science in civil engineering from Michigan Technological University. He is a licensed civil/structural engineer and has worked in the area for 15 years. He currently works for Bosch Architecture.
Nick is well versed in the areas of building, design and planning. He has previously served on the on Building Board of Appeals in the Village of Lawton and Antwerp and Texas Townships. He and his family are active members of Southridge Reformed Church, where Nick has served as a deacon and a small group leader.
