Serve Your Community – Apply for a Texas Township Committee or Board!
Texas Township invites residents who are passionate about their community to serve on a commission, committee, or board. Applications are accepted year-round, so whether or not there’s a current vacancy, we encourage you to submit your application. As positions become available, we review all applications on file to find the best fit for each role.
Overview on 2026 Board & Committee Openings
Applications are accepted year-round; however, to receive priority consideration for appointment to an upcoming expiring term, please submit your application by Friday, October 31. Applications submitted within the past two years will also be reviewed. Applications received after the priority date will be kept on file and considered for future vacancies. Note: This priority date does not apply to upcoming DDA positions, which will be reviewed in Q1 2026.
How to Apply
- Complete the Application for Appointment form (available below) or the PDF version.
- Submit online for fastest consideration.
- Applications can also be mailed to the Township Office, if preferred.
Application Review Process
- As vacancies arise or terms expire, the Township Supervisor and Township Board review all applications on file.
- Candidates are evaluated based on experience, interest, and alignment with the committee’s purpose.
- Selected applicants may be contacted for an interview or additional information before final appointment by the Township Board.
- Appointments are made by recommendation from the Township Supervisor, subject to final approval by the Township Board.
Current & Upcoming Vacancies
Most Township committee and board member terms expire at the end of the calendar year, with some exceptions. Community members interested in learning more about the work of these groups—or in serving on a committee—are encouraged to visit the individual Subcommittee Pages.
Each subcommittee page provides details about current members, meeting schedules, responsibilities, and how to apply for open positions.
Statutory Authorities, Boards & Commissions
Statutory boards and commissions are public bodies either required or authorized by law. They have specific duties outlined in state statute and/or the Township’s ordinance creating the particular committee. Texas Township’s Statutory Committees include:
- Planning Commission
- Zoning Board of Appeals
- Board of Review
- Downtown Development Authority (DDA)
- Election Commission (Comprised of Township Board Members)
Advisory Boards & Committees
Advisory committees are not mandated or authorized by specific statutes. A township board may choose to establish advisory committees to collect information, make recommendations and participate in township programs. Advisory committees are just that-advisory-and they have no authority of their own. They can do only what the board has authorized them to do.
